The Home Buying and Selling Group Leasehold group has made two submissions to Government concerning Leasehold properties. These submissions have included providing guidance on the appropriate use of leases, regulation of managing agents and how much they charge and the process of enfranchisement. The Group is currently looking at the inappropriate use and application of estate rent charges and how mortgage lenders are inadvertently affecting leasehold property values by requiring ever longer unexpired lease terms to offer a mortgage.
All of the issues the Leasehold Group have and continue to focus on are around leasehold causing delays in property transactions, incurring additional costs for consumers, causing the extreme blighting of property and transaction failure.
